The State Bank of India, country’s largest lender as its commitment to offer best services to defence personnel has launched a defence salary package for the Indian Air Force. Before this, bank had announced similar package for Army and Navy personnel.
The bank will offer an array of concessional services such as zero balance accounts, interest rate concessions on loans, preferential allotment of lockers and free mobile banking.
During the launch of product SBI chairman O P Bhatt said, "I recommit that SBI would serve the very best we can."
In the package bank will provide free drafts and free cheque books and free funds transfer facility to any of the State Bank Group's networks of almost 16,000 branches or any other bank in India, besides free ATM cards and other features.
SBI further said it is planning to add 5,000 ATMs to its existing count of 20,000, out of which large number of ATMs will be established to serve Air Force formations which will benefit more than one lakh Air Force personnel.
The package offered to Air Force personnel include opening of zero balance accounts with a unique lifetime account number, valid even after retirement, and offers free mobile banking services, preferential allotment of lockers and interest rate concessions on home, car and personal loans, among others.
SBI said, "The bank's network of business correspondents appointed in unbanked rural areas will also be available for the basic banking requirement of the Air Force personnel and their families."
Speaking on the occasion, Air Chief Marshal P V Naik said, "I hope SBI would meet the expectations of defence personnel," and added that he would recommend the SBI chairman to translate it into a reality at the earliest.

sir i am ex sergeant as on date retired on31 july 10 iam very thankful to sbi for such a good scheme but very sorry to say few points i am having my saving bank a/c 30592341180 in yashoda nagar kanpur branch (11330)i have given my application to convert to DSP a/c on 12 may10 after calling 8 times finaly on 02 june whole staff including branch manager Mr RC KUREEL told that they are not aware of any such type of scheme finaly with the help of our jonal head major PC JOSI my a/c could have been converted still they are not accepting application for issuie of silver card telling you are already having one card.

i am a serving corporal in indian air force ,i am on dettachment in raipur for service commitments .
i approached MANA branch of sbi for a at par demand draft, the staff told that i have to pay the commison amount as my parent branch is in uttar pradesh in my respective station. As per MOU signed between IAF and SBI it has been stated that a silver card holder can make 5 demand drafts up to rs 50000 per month .. can you please clarify it to respective branch manager and also to all state bank branches .. thanking you

it is experienced that maximum branch managers of sbi are not knowing the felicities provided to defense personals on DSP A/C. for example they are charging for mobile banking, asking non realistic documents/certificates for granting loans and not considering low interest rates on loans. there fore my request that all the managers may be apprised with the policies on said a.c .

Please confirm that the product code for this is
SBCHQ-DSP-PUB IND-SILVER-INR. Because in my branch they are saying such product is not available in their system. Also if anyone have circular and guidelines of SBI regarding this please share to shivnalin@gmail.com
